Staff of the Wes Hobson Performance Camps:

Wes Hobson:
Wes has competed in triathlons since 1983. During this time he raced in over 220 triathlons, from Sprint distance to Ironman distance, which he finished all but three triathlons. During his twelve year professional career, he was selected "Triathlete of the Year" by the United States Olympic Committee. He has also been ranked top five in the United States for nine of those years. Triathlon has given him the ability to race in twenty-six other countries that enabled him to train with, race against and learn from the best athletes in the world.

Wes co-authored a book simply titled "Swim, Bike, Run" which was published in 2001 by Human Kinetics. In addition to writing, he CO-created Endurance Films which has produced "Triathlon ~ Through the Eyes of the Elite," "Triathlon ~ Racing Faster" and "Rides: Volume I ~ The Rockies."

Wes has been involved with the organizational side of triathlon by being selected among peers to be a three-year member of the USA Triathlon Board of Directors and a four-year stint on the US Professional Triathlon and Duathlon Committee. He is also a USAT certified coach and is an associate of Ultrafit.

Joe Friel:
Ultrafit Associates started in 1980. Developing athletes quickly became Joe's undying passion and with it came enormous growth in clientele around the country. Ultrafit was born in 1992. Every year three to six new coaches are brought into the Association and trained to follow the Ultrafit philosophy and methods. There are currently 18 Associates in the Ultrafit organization.

The Ultrafit Associates use a common philosophy and training methods as created by Joe and the associates. Its philosophy is well published and can be reviewed in Joe's books The Triathlete's Training Bible, The Cyclist's Training Bible, Cycling Past 50 and The Mountain Biker's Training Bible. Ultrafit Associates' practices and methods can also be seen regularly in mediums such as Inside Triathlon, Triathlete, American Tri, Colorado Triathlete, VeloNews, VeloNews online and many other mediums such as the message board at TrainingBible.com.

Adam Zucco:
Adam, an Ultrafit coach, has been coaching triathletes and runners since 1996. Living in Saint Charles, Illinois, Adam is a USAT level 1 coach. Adam is an accomplished triathlete who enjoys competing in triathlons at an elite level. Earning All American status, Adam has completed over 100 triathlons. Adam decided to start competing in triathlons after he was able to lose over 70 pounds. Since then, he has completed several international, half, and full Ironman distance races. Unlike many elite athletes, he started his triathlon career completely out of shape and had to work for everything. He knows how to start with very little background and build on that.
Most important, Adam has a genuine love and compassion for the sport of triathlon. His enthusiasm, dedication, and ability to lead by example are a major motivator for his athletes.

Bruce Gottlieb:
Bruce has worked with the mental training of world class runners, triathletes, professional golfers, basketball players, football players, news anchor persons, ballet dancers; high school students working towards college scholarships; aspiring pro athletes prior to auditioning try outs.

He has also co-designed a test for athletes to take as a means of assessing their motivation, desire to be team players, coach-ability, and learning styles.

Paul Heiman:
Paul started competing in triathlons in 1993 and has raced all over the country, placing in the top one percent of all his races, including many of the country's largest triathlons. He is a Triathlon World Championship qualifier as well as an All-American in Cross Country and Track. Paul will earn his Masters in Counseling Psychology, Licensed Professional Counselor Track from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, Fall 2003 with an emphasis in Sport Counseling. While at Regis University, Paul designed a Sport Counseling course working with professional and amateur triathletes on performance anxiety, mental clarity, mental toughness and balancing life as a triathlete.

Kris McFarland:
A Certified Massage Therapist for over 17 years with a Master of Science in Sports Medicine, Kristen is considered the "massage therapist for the stars." Her clients include Tim and Nicole DeBoom, Tony DeBoom, Ryan Bolton and Wes Hobson. She is also associated with USA Triathlon and is often seen massaging the athletes at the Olympic Training Center. Kristen is also the owner of Colorado Triathlete magazine.

Tim Luchinske:
Tim finished an impressive 12th in the professional division and was the third American at the 2002 Hawaii Ironman. He also added a second place finish at Ironman Utah, 2002. Growing up working on a farm ingrained in Tim a strong work ethic and an appreciation for honest work. Tim's individuality sets him apart from other athletes. He is now knowledgeable of the sport and the respect it deserves to excel, especially the Ironman distance events. Being relatively new to the sport, Tim has goals of continuing to do extremely well at the elite level for years to come.

Simon Lessing:
Five time World Champion! He just won Escape From Alcatraz this past weekend. What more can you say?

Other staff members, such as top professional triathletes in the world and superb coaches, will also be particpating in the camp.
