Lance has been competing at the highest level of triathlon for over 11 years, racing internationally with the US Junior National team for 2 years (99’ and 00’), one year with the U/23 Duathlon national team (02’), and currently as an elite ITU draft legal athlete. His area of expertise extends to the pool, where he currently coaches a masters program and nationally ranked USA Swimming club in Boulder at the RallySport Health and Fitness Club. Over the years his coaching skills have developed by working and learning under top professional triathletes Cyle Sage, Grant Holicky, and run specialist Brad Hudson. For the last year Lance has expanding his expertise in the area of video swim analysis, lactate profile testing, and hemoglobin monitoring. For those athletes training at high altitude or using altitude simulation beds the hemoglobin testing plays a crucial role in the prevention of overtraining or iron deficiency. His training philosophy is based around precision and education. There is no such thing as a “less important” training session. Each workout is an equal piece of a very intricate puzzle intended to create the perfect season. Furthermore, the more knowledge the athlete has about what their workout is designed to achieve physiologically the less chance there is of stagnation, injury, or overtraining.
